With its rich family history, Piedmont Sheet Metal has found the perfect equation for blending years of superior quality service with a true passion for what they do.
Best of all, there’s a dedicated team behind that company name, which gives it their all—and almost half of the nearly 50 employees have over 25 years of continuous service with Piedmont Sheet Metal, a few of those with over 40 years in the business.
“Our team makes us who we are,” says corporate officer Connie Miller, adding with pride that every employee is treated like family. It’s a trait—and a promise—she takes seriously. It was Connie’s father, Bill Cook, and his brother, who purchased the company from its original owner, W.L. Rothrock. Bill began as a Piedmont Sheet Metal employee as a teenager, and later, as a father, he instilled his strong work ethic in his own daughter—Connie—who arrived on the scene in 1978 to fill in temporarily in an administrative position. Obviously, she stuck around!
“We’re proud to be a family-owned business with Christian values,” says Connie. Their values—both as individuals and as a company—include a strong sense of community and a true desire to support other local businesses. “Winston-Salem is working to revitalize itself, not only downtown, but in surrounding areas,” explains Connie. “We’re proud to be able to support that effort.”
As the community around them has evolved, and the heating and air market has changed, Piedmont Sheet Metal’s commitment to their customers stands strong. Their roots began in residential service, but over the years have expanded into commercial work as well, now with a 50/50 balance between the two. They also supply custom sheet metal for ductwork for HVAC systems, range hoods, chimney caps, and other custom projects, as well as copper for a variety of specialty projects.
“A major point of difference between Piedmont Sheet Metal and other companies is that we design and custom-fit sheet metal to be used throughout every project we complete, instead of using flexible ductwork,” says Tara Thompson, Executive Assistant/Marketing Manager. “That important step provides optimal air distribution and durability.”
Clean and safe air quality is the team’s primary goal, which means your heating and cooling system must be regularly maintained, including changing filters as needed, and they offer a variety of specialty filters.
“One of the most popular filter choices is the Healthy Climate Carbon Clean 16 Media Air Cleaner by Lennox,” explains Tara. “It removes more than 95% of allergy-aggravating particles, while reducing harmful ozone from indoor air and converting it into clean, healthy oxygen—plus it’s a great environmental and economical choice.”
Piedmont Sheet Metal also offers the Lennox PureAir Air Purification system, which removes more than 95% of particles and bio-aerosols, before air is passed through UVA lamps to further destroy odors and chemical vapors. When they say the customer’s comfort is their mission, they mean it!
Seasonally, they remind customers to change their filters, make sure outdoor units are free of leaves and debris, and arrange for regular maintenance. For peak efficiency, the company offers an annual service agreement that includes a cooling inspection, a heating inspection, adjustment, lubrication, and cleaning of your system, and customers can choose which equipment is covered and the frequency of maintenance visits. (Bonus: Long-time clients remark they tend to leave a home even cleaner than it was when they arrived!)
A certified Lennox Dealer since the company’s inception in 1928, Piedmont Sheet Metal has also been recognized as a Premiere Lennox Dealer, ensuring their commitment to exceptional service and total customer satisfaction.
