I can’t believe summer has gone by so quickly! Especially since I’m still coming off my annual August summer vacation high. What an amazing week it was in the sunny gulf coast of Florida, spent with some of the people I love most! We couldn’t have asked for better weather. We saw manatees, dolphins, stingrays and pelicans galore! I always love to adopt a bird on the beach and, this year, it was Henry the heron. He stood for hours each day under a nearby pier, and I couldn’t have been happier watching him each day. Believe it or not, our last day there, he walked up the beach to where we were as if to say “goodbye” and then flew away.
We’re not ready for winter coats quite yet as there is plenty of warm weather left. September is always full of outdoor activities and events. Many of which are fundraisers for various non-profits and charities. I’m blessed to be in a position to witness many of these events and see first-hand the generosity of the folks amongst us. Forsyth Magazines recently held a fundraiser for Family Services (many thanks to Brooke Eagle and all those involved to make it happen!). In the same week, I attended Farm to Fourth to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank where 200 folks gathered on Fourth Street to dine together. A prayer prompt from Denise Heidel’s “My Gracefull Life” blog this weekend reminded me that we were made to think of others. Philippians 2:3-4 CSV says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Forsyth County and surrounding community residents, you excel in this, and I am blessed to call you home!
Our September cover features Dr. Kephart and Dr. Ramey of Ardmore Dentistry in Winston-Salem and Davie Dentistry in Mocksville. As mentioned above, September is full of opportunities, so be sure to check them out in this month’s issue!
Blessings!
