From the Heart: January 2019

New Year and welcome, 2019! It’s surreal to think this is the last year of this decade.

I ended the year with a pre-Christmas girls’ trip to New York City with my daughters and our dear friends, Angela and Spencer Leonard. We had done a similar trip some 10+ years ago in the spring, but there’s nothing quite like NYC at Christmas time! Might have gone a little overboard on Broadway shows, as we went to not one, not two, but three shows! We all agreedFrozen was our fav, followed by an amazing dinner afterwards. We had a blast marveling at the Christmas window displays, the Rockefeller tree and beautiful lights at every corner. We haggled with street vendors on Canal Street and enjoyed appetizers and drinks at a rooftop igloo bar. How blessed am I to have had this experience with them all! Thanks, ladies, for the memories and special way to end the year!

Our cover story this month is The Montessori School of Winston-Salem and their new Adolescent Program Campus. It is an amazing facility nestled away in Clemmons. I was privileged enough to get a tour of this new campus during their cover photoshoot and wow! It was created with such attention to detail and care that it almost made me want to be back in school. Almost!

January features our annual Birthday Bonanza issue, with our pull-out Celebrate Life calendar. It features a place for you to list all your special occasions and has a handy reference on back with vendors to help you create magical celebrations all year long. Be sure to tear it out and keep it in a handy place.

Robin Bralley

Forsyth Family publisher/owner from 2007-2022. She turned over the reins to the very capable Brooke Eagle in 2023 and remains a part of the team as an Account Executive. You’ll also most likely see her stocking magazine racks around town. Robin grew up in Clemmons and has called it home all her life. She has a degree from High Point University and after finding herself downsized from her marketing position in corporate America, Robin joined forces with Forsyth Woman publisher and friend, Keela Johnson to launch Forsyth Family. She and her husband, Tim, have been married for almost 35 years and share two grown daughters, Briana and Morgan, as well as a son-in-law, Briana’s husband, Jonathan and Morgan’s soon to be husband, Deep! She is very excited to welcome her first grandchild in May. Robin and her family are avid music fans and enjoy going to concerts and movies. She loves watching birds on her many backyard feeders and flower gardening. She is an active member of New Day Community Church and feels closest to God on her daily walks at Tanglewood Park with husband Tim. Regarding her favorite thing about Forsyth Magazines, Robin said, “It’s hard to narrow it down to one specific thing, but meeting all of the wonderful people I come in contact with and being a small part of local businesses’ success is top of the list!”
