Yancey & Zackeru: Where the Tried-and-True Meets the Young and New

Dr. Lindsay Yancey has been practicing cosmetic and general dentistry from his office in the heart of the Stratford Road Executive Park for 40 years. Over that time, he has built a successful practice, and many of his patients have been coming to him for decades.
So when he announced he had hired Dr. Jeffery Zackeru, many thought, ”Dr. Yancey must be retiring!” After four decades, that would be the likely conclusion to draw, but Dr. Yancey is not retiring anytime soon.

“I brought Jeff in because I felt like it was time to change things up a little,” Dr. Yancey said. “I still love what I do, and love seeing my patients every day, but I felt that by bringing Jeff in, the staff and patients would enjoy some new energy in the office. It’s been a great experience working together. This has allowed me to share my experience with current treatment and practice methods, and has allowed Jeff to contribute his expertise with new treatment techniques.”

Dr. Zackeru, who grew up in Supply, North Carolina, completed his undergraduate studies at UNC Charlotte, and recently graduated from the East Carolina School of Dentistry. He has since married Erica Waters, a native of Winston-Salem, and they have established roots in the community.

When Dr. Yancey began his practice in 1977, he opened his office in Executive Park because it was an up and coming area. “I was fresh out of dental school and was looking to carve out my niche. The area looks nothing like it did back then as medical offices, and other professional buildings have been developed, but it’s a great location that’s convenient for my patients.”

While there have been many changes over the years, such as the introduction of a variety of cosmetic procedures, one thing that hasn’t changed is how you need to care for your teeth, which should include regular cleanings and checkups.

You’ve no doubt heard it said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In dentistry, you might say it’s worth two pounds and possibly even thousands of dollars. That’s because dental problems can become exponentially more expensive — and painful — the longer they go unaddressed. Fortunately, modern dentistry has many easy and relatively inexpensive ways to make sure that today’s minor annoyance does not turn into tomorrow’s major headache or a toothache as the case may be.

Preventive dentistry stops tooth decay and other diseases in the earliest stages. The goal is to keep patients as healthy as possible and maintain their natural teeth for

life. The focus of the
 entire practice is on the
comprehensive dental care of the patient with an emphasis on current prevention methods, dental education, proper diet, and up-to-date techniques all in an environment of comfort and relaxation. New digital technology has been integrated into the practice to aid in diagnosis and treatment procedures.

Dr. Yancey and Dr. Zackeru offer a wide range of treatment opportunities to meet the dental needs of patients of all ages, beginning at about age 3 and continuing through patients’ golden years. Preventive techniques, such as regular dental check-ups, fluoride treatments, and sealants are available as well as bleaching, cosmetic “fillings,” extractions, root canals, crowns, dentures, sleep devices, and implant prosthetics.

The practice is always available for new patients, and those interested may contact Hilda or Blair (336-768-8850) to schedule a visit or have a consultation. The office is located at 481 Shepherd Street (just off Stratford Road and Executive Park Blvd.) The office hours are 7:30 am until 5:00 pm for appointments or drop-ins.
