It’s no secret that COVID has caused many disruptions and has made a tremendous impact on small businesses. Pie Guys Pizza & More of Clemmons, owned and operated by Robert Wiley, is such a small business.
“Like all restaurants and small businesses, especially in the months following the weeks of shut down, we’ve had to adapt,” explained Robert. “Our team has been incredible about making the needed changes to stay in business. Throughout the entire process, we’ve been able to stay busy and productive. Though our dining room continues to be closed, our delivery and pick-up service has remained steady, and we’re offering curbside dining to anyone who just needs a change of scenery from their dining room.”
Robert continued, “And, on behalf of the entire Pie Guys team – I want to thank this community. Our friends and neighbors in Clemmons and Winston-Salem have stepped up and shown us such encouragement and support. We are humbled and thankful for their faith in us and how they have continued to patronize our business. Our business is still holding strong, despite the herculean obstacles, and it’s because of this incredible community.”
“I’ve wanted to open a pizza place since I was a kid,” Robert mused. “But, never did I imagine these kinds of challenges! While we miss our in-dining option, our pre-COVID patrons know that our dining room simply doesn’t lend itself to social distancing. Keeping that part closed is our way of showing our support for the public’s health.
“But – what has NOT changed at Pie Guys Pizza & More – we are still committed to making the best pizza in the community,” Robert enthused. “We love what we do, and we know pizza is more than just dough and cheese. There’s an art to making great pizza, and we only source the finest ingredients for our pizzas. Our scratch-made dough rests for a full 24 hours before it’s used in order to maximize the flavor; our ingredients are still sourced from amazing vendors who specialize in producing meats and cheese in the authentic Italian fashion.”
Robert shared, “Our menu boasts a wide selection of options, including salads, wings and subs. And, we have pizza available by the slice or as a whole. We even have some gluten-free(ish) options. We add the ‘ish’ because, for those who are highly sensitive to gluten, we want to be forthright. We cook all our pizzas in the same oven, and we’re diligent about using different cutting tools on our gluten-free pizzas.”
