Happy 2026! Another year in the rearview mirror! With January comes fresh starts, new goals, and lots of talk about health and wellness. From a girl who genuinely loves this kind of thing, I am all for it. We’ve packed this issue with health-focused content to help you kick off the new year feeling inspired and energized.

Our beautiful cover feature highlights One Health Rural Hall, an organization truly making a difference in our community. With an incredible team of providers, One Health focuses on caring for the whole person. Dr. Veronica Wiltshire, who authored their cover story on page 16, is deeply committed to community-based care. At One Health, they don’t just treat problems, they remove barriers by bringing together medical care, mental health support, and community partnerships, so families don’t have to fight for care alone.

On page 12, Hawthorne Obstetrics and Gynecology reminds us of the importance of staying up to date with preventative screenings, along with helpful tips for managing stress and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper diet, sleep, and exercise.

Now let’s talk fitness—for your dogs! Y’all, this is GOOD stuff. Run Rascaldy Roo is a mobile dog gym, and Melissa is absolutely amazing. My dogs have been running with her for a year now, and Fridays are officially their favorite day of the week. They’ve built incredible stamina, and as my pups approach 7 years old, I’m doing everything I can to support their longevity. They’re my babies! They’re mentally and physically stimulated, and I truly can’t say enough great things about this small business. Read more on page 28.

Back to human health—Washington Park CrossFit proves that strength training and community can truly transform your life. At WPCF, they offer both. Learn more about their approach and check out their free one-week trial on page 46.

For the kiddos, Salem Gymnastics and Swim offers a wide variety of programs including gymnastics, ninja training, and swim lessons. They really do have it all—learn more on page 29.

Movement is crucial, but so is healthy eating! Turn to page 14 for a delicious sheet-pan lemon garlic butter salmon recipe from the amazing Lauren Sephton. If you’re not following her on Instagram yet, you should be!! She’s built a following of over one million! We’re honored to have known her for years and watched her grow. This Winston-Salem local is the talent behind @brightmomentco, and she’s truly incredible.
