Tired of the cold, blustery winter season? Shake off the winter blues and take a step into spring at the 29th Annual Triad Home and Garden Show. This event, hosted by the Home Builders’ Association of Winston-Salem (HBAWS) and sponsored by Bloomday Granite & Marble, is the perfect way to get excited about sprucing up your home for spring, and seeing the new, innovative ways to update around your lawn and home. “The Triad Home and Garden Show is an event that provides awareness in the community of the professionals in our industry and showcases their products and services,” explained Beverly Hayes, HBAWS’s Director of Communications & Member Services.
The show will be held on Friday through Sunday (February 23rd, 24th, 25th) at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds in the Education Building. The doors open at 2:00 pm on Friday. The hours vary by day as follows: Friday, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm; Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm; and Sunday, noon to 4:00 pm. Tickets are $8.00 per adult, with children ages 12 and under free when accompanied by a paying adult. Enter gate 5 off Deacon Blvd. for free, handicap accessible parking. It’s just a short walk to the Education Building.
Over 100 vendors are expected for the 2018 Show. Thinking about a new garden space this year? Living Waterscapes, Woodsen Landscaping, Southern Sodgrass and Landscape Supply, and As You Like It Landscapes will be showcasing their beautiful garden concepts. Stop by and get inspired!
Demonstrations of techniques continue as a highlight of the 2018 Triad Home and Garden Show. The 2018 Learning Stop will feature daily home maintenance classes by Erik Anderson from Dreammaker Bath & Kitchen.
To highlight the shortage and increasing need for skilled workers in the construction industry, students from FTCC Carpentry Program and WSFCS Career Center Carpentry Classes will conduct a skills demonstration on Friday, February 23rd, before the show opens. Students and HBAWS members will join to build items to be sold at the Show. Funds raised from the sale of these items will benefit the Career Technical Education partnership, providing students who participate in these programs an opportunity to help construct a Habitat Home annually. Tent Sponsor for this area is Busch Insurance and Builders Mutual Insurance.
There’s a special area for kids as well! Kidzone is set up as a friendly area with activities and a playhouse provided by Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories. Be sure and visit the Kidzone with your children during the show, as you visit the demonstrations and vendor areas. This is set up for families to enjoy some playtime together.
What about food? Glad you asked! Bring the family on Friday and enjoy the show and a dinner to boot! Several food trucks will be on hand with a variety of meals to suit everyone’s taste.
The grand prize for the 2018 Triad Home and Garden Show will be a Husqvarna Lawn Mower. Be sure to register to win; no purchase is necessary. Wouldn’t your lawn look great with a new mower keeping it ship-shape?
The Vendor Scavenger Hunt is back! With prize drawings daily, don’t miss a chance to win. 2017 winners received a chainsaw, a trimmer and a leaf blower. One prize is awarded per day to the lucky winner drawn from all who turned in their completed cards. Simply take the Scavenger Hunt Card to the Home Builders’ Association of Winston-Salem member booths; they will provide a code word to fill in on the card. All prizes are provided by Husqvarna.
“With over 100 vendor booths, the Original Triad Home & Garden Show is the largest and longest-running consumer show in this area,” explained Megan Parks, EVP, Home Builders Association of Winston-Salem. “The Show runs three days and is a one-stop shopping event for show visitors. It is the best opportunity available to connect with industry products and services for every home & garden project imaginable.”
As in years past, a portion of the event’s proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity Forsyth to benefit others in our community.
