Twenty200 Eyewear Optical Shop: Vision on a mission

Twenty200 Eyewear is an optical shop in Winston-Salem with a special mission: all purchases directly create opportunities for people who are blind. They offer a range of eyewear in approachable styles with a focus on kind, patient service.

The name “Twenty200” reflects their mission: while 20/20 is perfect vision, 20/200 is the threshold for legal blindness. Their parent organization, IFB Solutions, is the largest employer of people who are blind.

How does Twenty200 Eyewear support your vision?

Choosing the right eyewear is about more than personal appearance; their opticians ask the right questions to ensure a comfortable fit. Optician and manager Amy Brandon explains what she and her team take into consideration. “We are looking at your hair and eye color, and your face shape. We also look at your prescription and your lifestyle; finding frames that will work best with your lens needs.”

What should you be aware of when choosing your eyewear?

  1. Your personal style: do you want to make a statement or do you prefer a classic that never goes out of style?
  2. Your prescription: different vision needs require different types of lenses and/or coatings. Will the frames you selected work well with the type of lens needed?
  3. Your day-to-day: If you sit at a computer, you’ll need solutions designed to reduce eye strain. Picking frames for your kids? You’ll need a flexible and sturdy pair that survives play dates.

Twenty200 Eyewear opticians will partner with you to recommend a range of options based on your vision needs, your own style selections, and your budget. Their available lens brands include Varilux®, Transitions®, Crizal®, with Kate Spade®, RayBan®, Oakley®, and Costa® frames.

Use your flex dollars!

As the end of the year approaches, many families are looking for ways to spend flexible/health spending account dollars. Did you know you can usually use your flex account dollars for eyewear? It is the perfect time for purchasing prescription sunglasses for driving or a back-up pair of glasses for an active teenager.
