Triad Area Events in October 2024

October offers a variety of interesting and exciting events for families to experience in and around the Triad. Here are some of the top offerings:

Spooky Woods
1615 Kersey Valley Road, Archdale
Sept. 13 until Nov. 2, Parking opens at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets start at $40
Voted as the #2 Halloween destination in America, Spooky Woods, performed on a 92-acre “stage,” has all new sets this year and a dark ride tram. 

Disney on Ice
Bojangles Coliseum, Charlotte
Oct. 3-6
Various times, tickets start at $25
The newest ice spectacular is jammed with Disney’s favorite characters: Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy have become DJs, remixing Disney tunes into colorful stories for this all-new, state-of-the-art ice show. 

Carolina Classic Fair

Winston-Salem Fairgrounds
Oct. 4-13

The Carolina Classic Fair is the second largest agricultural fair in North Carolina and one of the 50 largest fairs in North America. It includes rides, animals, displays, live entertainment, special days throughout the schedule and all kinds of food. 

Ailey II: The Next Generation of Dance

Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts, Appalachian State University
Oct. 4, 7:30 p.m.

This marks the 50th anniversary of company formed by Alvin Ailey. It merges the spirit and energy of the country’s finest early-career dance talent with the creative vision of emerging choreographers. 

Keith Sweat: Live in Concert
Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts, Greensboro
Oct. 5, 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $65
Keith Sweat released his debut album in 1987. It sold 3 million copies. Sweat has won several American Music Awards. In 2013, he received the Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Gold Over America Tour 2024
Spectrum Center, Charlotte

Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets start at $35
Simone Biles and other gymnastics favorites leap into action. The high-flying performance lands in Charlotte after the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It’s an exhilarating display of jaw-dropping athleticism and high-energy choreography. 

Peso Pluma
Greensboro Coliseum Complex
Oct. 13, 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $39.50
After selling out 54 shows in 2023 and winning a Grammy for his album “Genesis,” Peso Pluma returns will an all-new show. Pluma is a Mexican singer who gained fame for his distinctive blend of regional Mexican, corridos tumbados, ballads, Latin urban, reggaeton and Latin trap music. 

Jo Koy: Just Being Koy Tour
LJVM Coliseum, Winston-Salem
Oct. 18, 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $39
As one of today’s premiere stand-up comedians, Jo Koy has come a long way from his modest beginnings performing in a Las Vegas coffee house. Jo’s comedy pulls inspiration from his family. 

An Evening with The Atlanta Rhythm Section
The Ramkat
Oct. 19, 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $45
For more than 50 years, members of The Atlanta Rhythm Section have entertained audiences with their hits. With multiple gold and platinum albums, the band had two Top 10 singles: “So Into You” and “Imaginary Lover.” 

Paw Patrol Live!, Heroes Unite

Paw Patrol Live! is an action-packed adventure for the whole family. It’s non-stop fun, thrilling missions and unforgettable moments.

Men At Work

Bojangles Ovens Auditorium, Charlotte
Oct. 24, 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $65
Take a trip back to the iconic sound of Men At Work, born in Melbourne in 1979. From Grammy wins to global fame, their hits defined the early ’80s. Colin Hays has kept the music alive with his LA band. The group delivers hit after hit with their signature style and passion. 

Lucky Stiff
Yadkin Cultural Arts Center, Yadkinville
Oct. 24-27, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets $24
This is an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce, complete with mistaken identities, $6 million in diamonds and a corpse in a wheelchair. It was the first show produced by the Tony Award-team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. It’s a winner of the Richard Rodgers Award.
