Many local youth are enjoying summer tennis camps or playing tennis with friends and family just for fun. Tennis is the perfect sport for families to enjoy together, and there’s a great opportunity coming up to see world-class tennis at the Winston-Salem Open at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex adjacent to BB&T Field.
The Winston-Salem Open, an “ATP World Tour 250” event with a total purse of more than $720,940, will take place from August 17th-24th, 2019, with qualifying rounds set for August 17th. The tournament will be the final men’s event of the US Open Series and comes the week prior to the US Open.
The Winston-Salem Open will feature special events throughout tournament week, including Fill the Food Bank on August 17th, which is also Brenner Children’s Hospital Kids’ Day; Military Appreciation Day on August 19th; High School Play Day on August 20th; Earlier.org day on August 21st, which also is the date for Pride Night; and Ladies Day on August 22nd.
“Taking the kids to the Winston-Salem Open is the perfect way to enjoy the best of summer during the last week before most local schools begin the year,” Winston-Salem Open Tournament Director Bill Oakes declared. “We’re fortunate to have professional golf at the Wyndham Championship earlier in August, and this year, for the first time, there’s a two-week break between the Wyndham and the Winston-Salem Open. Families can enjoy both professional sports events with a nice break between the two incredible events.”
Oakes disclosed that the Winston-Salem Open has introduced a new “flex package” that will allow fans to pick their three favorite sessions for one price, along with a new app to enhance the fan experience. The app will feature a fan portal and will notify fans of weather conditions, autograph sessions and other events, and will feature tennis trivia for prizes. In addition to the app, the Winston-Salem Open is offering two new in-stadium suites, each of which is available to rent and can accommodate up to 50 guests.
All sessions of the Winston-Salem Open will be broadcast exclusively on the Tennis Channel. For more information on the 2019 Winston-Salem Open, please go to WinstonSalemOpen.com.
