From building her reputation in Charleston to taking a leap of faith in Winston-Salem, Stacey Milner has been elevating pastries and cultivating memories for years. Since the first day she opened shop, Stacey has poured “nothing but love” into every angle of Baked Just SO. Because her bakery is more than just her business, it’s her passion. And you can taste it in every bite, in every sip of air-roasted coffee, and in every jaw-dropping glance at her specialty cakes.
“I found myself at a crossroads a little over four years ago. I had always dreamt of starting my own shop since working as a pastry chef back in Charleston, but thought the timing was not right. So, when my life took a big turn, it was a clear sign to gather up the courage and take action.” And the Robinhood space couldn’t have become available at any better time. With three kids in school right down the road, Stacey knew that it was meant to be. “It’s been a journey filled with ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
But that journey wouldn’t have been possible without her sweet staff and amazing customers. “It’s incredibly heartwarming and satisfying to see a person’s mood lift from the simplest pleasures in life. Every customer that walks through my doors is like family to me, and the peoples’ lives I’ve been able to be a small part of mean so much! And my staff…I cannot say enough about the dedication they pour into Baked Just SO.”
Baked Just SO takes the hassle out of navigating downtown Winston-Salem to have your morning pick-me-up. Instead, it’s a quick drive or even walk for some! Both locations offer a full coffee bar that could give Starbucks a run for their money. And to pair with your favorite drink, you’ll find seasonal specials still warm and fresh from the oven, daily-made breakfast pastries, specialty cakes, cheesecakes, pie bars, cookies, brownies, and more. Oh! Did we also mention they also make artisanal ice cream sandwiches flavored to the season? The options are endless, with a little something to fit everybody’s palate, so the hardest decision to make will be whether to order an extra pastry to go!
From the memorable first birthdays to the grand 100th birthdays, to weddings and the simple celebrations of life, Stacey has had the honor to sweeten many occasions. She’s even had the blessing of being able to ride along life’s journey for many customers that have entrusted her with the task of bringing the cake visions to life. “One in particular, I made her wedding cake, several birthday celebrations, her gender reveal, and that same baby’s first birthday cake.”
And seeing the happiness in their faces upon delivery? “It’s literally a dream come true!”
Stacey’s greatest joy is not just to bake, but to create an experience for her clients with nothing less than sweetened perfection on her mind. You’ll be sure to taste the authenticity of those endless hours in the kitchen, as well as her heart and soul she pours into every original recipe. And in addition to buying seasonal ingredients from local farmers, Baked Just SO cherishes their opportunity to give back to their community through various donations and charity events for local schools. She also offers teachers a 10% discount all year.
