May 2020 “From the Heart”

It’s in times of tragedy that we see humanity at its best!  Its times like those that we find ourselves in now…amidst the coronavirus crisis!  There really are few words to explain how our existence has changed so drastically, and seemingly overnight!  But I have seen the best in people time and time again through this pandemic.  From the outpouring of love and support for our front-line medical personnel, putting themselves in harm’s way to care for others, to the folks helping us meet our essential needs.    Volunteerism abounds, from taking groceries to those who are most vulnerable, to feeding the hungry and sewing masks.  The creative ways folks have found to celebrate birthdays and weddings and to keep everyone’s spirits up.  I have never been prouder of our nation than right now.

It looks like Mother’s Day celebrations will look a little different than our typical ones, just as our Easter did.  But we can still celebrate moms and all they mean to us.  After all, the only thing most any of us want is appreciation and acknowledgement that what we do matters to the people we love most.  So thank all you lovely moms out there!

Our cover features the first baby born in The Birth Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in July 2019.  We thank all the neighborhood ambassadors and places that allowed us to temporarily distribute the magazine until all our regular distribution spots are open to the public again.  Thank you to all the advertisers who make this publication possible.  This issue is full of wonderful businesses ready and waiting to serve you.

And as I mentioned last month…FEAR NOT!  We will emerge, stronger and better than ever!

Blessings!

Robin
