The coronavirus/COVID-19 is wreaking havoc on just about everything across the world as I write this mid-March. In a matter of days it went from cancelling a few events to closing schools and shutting down restaurants. Unprecedented actions in my lifetime!
It’s scary, I get it. The unknown is always frightening because we humans like to be in control! “Keep Calm and carry on!” was a phrase coined by the British government’s Ministry of Information in 1939 as part of an effort to boost morale at the outset of World War II. Perhaps this is a mantra we could all use right now, as well. Panicking at this time will not help. We need to be smart and heed the warnings of the CDC, we need to practice social distancing. The elderly and medically fragile need to be protected. But we also need to take a deep breath and realize that this will pass in time. It’s a blip in history that generations to come will read about that we experienced. I’m reminded that “Fear not!” is the most repeated command in the Bible. In fact, it’s been said that there are 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible— one “Fear not” for every day of the year! … God doesn’t want us to go a single day without hearing his word of comfort: “Fear not!”
I ran across this the other day and wanted to share this excerpt and tips:
