The Winston-Salem Symphony’s Pops Concert John Williams: STAR WARS AND BEYOND

From Harry Potter and Indiana Jones to the iconic music of Star Wars, composer John Williams is the king of Hollywood cinema soundtracks. Join the Winston-Salem Symphony for a Pops Concert Series that celebrates this living legend through his best-loved music, drawn from half a century of unforgettable scores!

Attendees will have two concert options to choose from: Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 16 at 2 p.m. at historic Reynolds Auditorium in Winston-Salem.

“With all the excitement generated by the release just weeks ago of the latest installment of the Star Wars saga, this is a concert not to be missed,” said Timothy Redmond. “John Williams film scores have become beloved and iconic masterpieces and young and old alike will find their spirits soaring at this concert.”

Williams is one of today’s most accomplished composers. He has won 24 Grammy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, five Academy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. With 51 Academy Award nominations, he is the second most-nominated individual, after Walt Disney.

John Williams: Star Wars and Beyond will feature a varied selection from some of Williams’ most beloved scores. Who can forget the majestic score from Jurassic Park or the haunting music of Close Encounters of the Third Kind?

Whether you are a Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, or even a Slytherin, you won’t want to miss the Symphony performing excerpts from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Portions of the scores from ET, Hook, Angela’s Ashes, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and, of course, the exceptional Star Wars, will also thrill the audience.

Speaking of Star Wars, attendees will have a chance to see some of their favorite characters from the Star Wars universe when the Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion joins the Symphony. The Carolina Garrison is the North Carolina/
South Carolina chapter of the 501st Legion, an all-volunteer international Star Wars costuming organization with more than 8,800 active members representing more than 47 nations.
