At first glance, Smitherman’s Nursery on Old US Hwy 421 in East Bend, NC, may look like just a nursery, filled this time of year with fresh greenery and fresh-cut trees, but within the walls of the garden and gift shop is a wonderland of gift ideas and items to make your house a little extra special during the holiday season..

A Respected Family Business within the Community

Founded by Roy and Ann Smitherman, Smitherman’s Nursery has been known in our area as a family business for over 30 years. There aren’t many people who haven’t bought trees or shrubbery from the Siloam Road location at one time or another. Grandson Shannon and wife, Wendy Smitherman, added another location on Old US Hwy 421, which includes a garden and gift shop that sparkles far beyond what you might expect. “We opened our garden and gift shop in September, 2010, offering decorating items for each season. When our customers drive up for their annuals or perennials, they are amazed when they enter our shop. From the outside it is rather unassuming, but once you are in the doors there are beautiful decorations everywhere. With every season we have items that make perfect gifts, or things to decorate a home from inside out. This Christmas we have beautiful themed trees decorated with bows, florals and ornaments galore. Our upside-down tree has really been popular when people come in. It is a definite conversation starter. You have to see it to believe it!” said Wendy Smitherman.
