If you ask the question, “What makes a successful intercollegiate athletic department?” you might assume the answer would be as simple as “Winning.” However, for Wake Forest Athletics, that simple answer has many facets, with a resounding focus on making the college experience for each student-athlete unforgettable, as well on a commitment to all Wake Forest fans to make their game day experience as memorable as possible!
A Rich History within the Community
In 1956, Wake Forest University moved from the town of Wake Forest, North Carolina to Winston-Salem, bringing with it a rich tradition of academics and a commitment to producing prepared graduates. Since then, the University has also become recognized for its athletic programs and dedication to its ever-growing fan base. “Wake Forest Athletics has a clear foundation to make the four years a student-athlete spends competing for the Deacs the best and most memorable four years of their life. Along with this promise, our focus is engaging fans, students, alumni, and those who just love the Triad’s ACC team, to come out and support the Demon Deacons each and every time we take the field. We strive to create an atmosphere for all fans at each game, making them want to wear the gold and black time and time again, and to enhance the home field advantage for our student-athletes and coaches,” stated Nicole Jones, Director of Wake Forest Sports Marketing and Promotions.
Wake Forest University, a Division I institution, offering 18 athletic programs ranging from football and basketball to men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, baseball and tennis, to mention a few. “We have two members on staff that are solely focused on serving the Olympic sports programs, and making sure those coaches, student-athletes and fans have an amazing experience each time they step foot into the stadium. With the successes of programs like field hockey, soccer, golf and baseball among others, all Wake Forest Olympic sports programs are building in fan loyalty, and we are excited to continue to grow all of these relationships,” Jones commented.
