At ComputerTree, we provide computer training to customers of all ages and interests. It is always interesting to see how people use today’s technology to enhance their lifestyles. For example, recently a couple, Lois and Bruce, came in for one-on-one schooling with our newest Trainer, Blake Young. The couple’s daughter, Helen from Philadelphia, gave them an Apple iPad as a Christmas gift.
Lois and Bruce had already started using their iPad, but wanted to learn more about downloading e-books, receiving emails, playing bridge and using the iPad as a GPS device. The most extraordinary thing is that Lois is 82 years old, and Bruce is 87. We were happy to assist them in their quest to learn how to make the most of their iPad and communicate with their loved ones and friends via e-mail. After setting up their emails, we realized Lois had already received fifty messages, and Bruce had five e-mails waiting to be read. Even Bruce was surprised to learn how many people Lois was communicating with. I suspect Lois and Bruce will be back at some point, inquiring how to create a website or blog!
In contrast, the very same day, Denita Patrick, one of our Sales Representatives, sold a new Apple iPad2 to customer Jordan Fant. Jordan, a very Apple-savvy 11-year-old, sold his older-model Macbook on eBay and used his pay-pal earnings with the entirety of his saved weekly allowances to purchase the coveted iPad2. Jordan said he has been enthralled with the iPad2 ever since the announcement of its release in March of this year. When Jordan purchased his iPad2, we told him about our free training classes, a valuable benefit for customers who purchase an Apple product from Computer Tree. And, I am not talking about a quick one-time overview of the product. Our customers receive coupons to attend up to five classes that run for 1½ hours each. By the time you are done with your classroom training, you will definitely know how to use your Mac or iPad. Like most kids, Jordan felt he already knew how to use his new iPad, but would consider taking a class.
